Sure, the leaked versions are deemed as terrible but the contents are mostly usable. Cretaceous Calamity and Formidable Seas are perfect examples. Or lets say an expansion pack that was expected to come out for such a long time.
One can have access to previously 'exclusive' downloads so they don't feel left out from the people that make these elegant PU projects to show off all the time. I think this is both a good and a bad thing. One can't have control over someone else distributing downloads without their own consent once it hits the web.
